The concrete floor came up first. Underneath we laid an underlay and then foam glass, compacted, which insulates the floor without trapping moisture beneath a listed building.
While the floor was open we put in new structural steel to form the rear opening for patio doors, propping the ceiling until the beams were connected. Wet underfloor heating went into the new slab with perimeter insulation around it, then tiling. It is an open plan kitchen diner now, with an island, and a new patio and steps outside.
